Getting Started

Loading Project Ghoul for the first time drops you at the save-slot screen: pick a slot, choose Ghoul or CCG, customize appearance, and optionally spin for starting traits before you spawn into the Tokyo-inspired map. GX Studios built this as a long-form RPG — your first thirty minutes should focus on quests, controls, and free rewards rather than chasing rare spins or open PvP. This guide walks through that opening loop so you reach Byrger Shot and beyond without wasting Yen, RC, or skill points.

Ghoul vs CCG: what changes on day one

Both factions share the same early quest NPCs and XP curve through Anteiku and most mid-game chains. PvP restrictions also match until you climb higher — open-world fighting typically opens around level 150+, so your first sessions are PvE safe if you stay on quest markers.

Ghouls fight with Kagune, must manage hunger by eating defeated enemies, and farm RC Cells from corpses for unlocks and scaling. Skill points go into health, hunger, agility, and damage.

CCG investigators equip Quinque weapons, ignore hunger, and progress rank through investigator systems instead of RC feeding. Skill points go into health, agility, and damage only.

Neither choice locks you out of story quests early. Pick the fantasy you prefer, but read Ghoul builds and CCG builds before you invest heavily in spins or Materials. You receive two free save slots — many players keep one Ghoul and one CCG rather than deleting progress to experiment.

First spawn: quests, sense, and waypoints

After spawning, accept the tutorial pop-up if offered — it places exclamation markers toward your first objectives. Use the Sense button (eye icon, bottom-right) to highlight labeled areas: quests, spin shop, raids, and points of interest across the map.

Walk to Anteiku and talk to NPCs with question marks overhead. You can hold one active quest at a time; accepting a new quest replaces the current one, so finish or abandon deliberately. Early Anteiku tasks teach spying and defeating low-ranked ghouls outside the cafe. Quests are repeatable — farming the same tier remains valid XP and Yen long after the tutorial ends.

Kill targets with Left Mouse Button after pressing E to equip your Kagune or Quinque. Use F to block telegraphed hits and Q to dash out of combos. Ghouls should grip or eat bodies after kills to refill hunger and start RC income; see RC Cells for payout tables.

Controls you need before your first fight

Memorize the core loop before you leave Anteiku:

InputAction
Left Mouse ButtonAttack
F / Right BumperBlock
E / Bottom D-PadEquip Quinque or Kagune
R / Right D-PadKakuja
H / Left D-PadArata or Mask equip
Ctrl / double-tap W / Left StickRun
Q / Left TriggerDash
Z / X / CSkills (Button X / Y / B on controller)

The in-game Menu → Controls page mirrors this list. Full PC and gamepad notes live in the dedicated Controls guide.

Open Menu from the bottom-center UI after your first few kills. You earn skill points from quest XP and levels. Spend them immediately on combat stats rather than hoarding — under-statted characters fail medium-tier quests even with correct inputs.

Ghoul priority early: put most points into damage (strength) so you one-shot grouped low enemies; add enough health to survive mis-timed blocks and a modest hunger buffer so you do not starve mid-chain. Agility helps chase scattered spawns but is secondary until damage feels comfortable.

CCG priority early: same damage-first mindset with health second. You skip hunger entirely, so every point goes toward killing faster and staying alive during Byrger Shot transitions.

Unlock Z skill first, then X and C as levels permit. Skills clear grouped NPCs far faster than basic attacks — essential once you start pulling multiple enemies in open areas.

Codes: redeem before you shop

Promo codes grant Spins, Yen, RC, Materials, and timed boosts without Robux. Redeem on day one through Menu → Info → enter code, then confirm rewards in your currency counters.

Browse the live list on our Codes hub and follow how to redeem codes if the UI moves during the Project Ghoul: re remake. Codes expire without warning after milestones — copy working strings the same day they appear on Discord.

Typical code bundles jump-start both factions: Ghouls value RC and Materials; CCG players lean on Yen and Spins. Redeem everything active, then play — do not sit in menu while boost timers tick down.

Spins, save slots, and when to reroll

Kagune and cosmetic spins happen at the Yellow Shimzza Co. spin shop (Sense marks it). Single spins cost 80,000 Yen; five spins cost 400,000 Yen — expensive for fresh accounts. Use code Spins first before buying rolls with quest Yen.

To consume Spins, return to the main menu customization screen (Settings → return to main menu, or rejoin the experience) and press Customize on your save slot instead of Play. Each spin replaces your current Kagune until stacks hit zero.

Do not burn rare results casually. If you roll something strong for farming, stop and compare Kagune tier list rankings. Stack unused Spins on a save slot, use a second slot to experiment, or wait for weekend discounted spins before mass rerolling. Full strategy sits in Change Kagune.

First-hour checklist

  1. Choose faction on a save slot you will keep.
  2. Redeem all active codes.
  3. Complete Anteiku low-ghoul quests twice if XP feels slow.
  4. Assign skill points — damage first, health second.
  5. Learn block and dash timing from Controls.
  6. Grip bodies as Ghoul; skip eating as CCG.
  7. Move to Level Up Fast once low Anteiku tiers feel trivial.

What to ignore early

Skip expensive Arata purchases, premature Quinque upgrades, and impulse five-spin bundles until you understand your build path. Server hop if another player farms the same NPC pile — shared spawns cut your XP rate sharply. Save Yen for aura and gear milestones discussed in Players guides rather than cosmetic gambles.

Weekend +30% XP, Materials, and Yen plus discounted spins reward planning: redeem codes mid-week, then push quest chains Saturday or Sunday using the route in Level Up Fast.

You now have faction context, quest flow, menu skills, code redemption, and spin discipline — enough to leave Anteiku confidently and follow deeper guides without restarting from zero.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Project Ghoul players.

Should I pick Ghoul or CCG as a new player?

Both share early quests and XP. Ghouls manage hunger and RC; CCG skips hunger and uses Quinque. Pick the role you enjoy and use a second save slot to try the other later.

Where do I get my first quests?

Head to Anteiku and talk to NPCs with question marks. Accept repeatable kill or spy quests for low-ranked ghouls outside the cafe.

How do I redeem Project Ghoul codes?

Open Menu, go to the Info tab, paste an active code, and confirm. Check the Codes hub for working strings and expiry notes.

When should I spend Kagune spins?

Use free code Spins before buying Yen rolls. Compare results to the Kagune tier list and consider weekend spin discounts before mass rerolling.

What skill points should I level first?

Invest heavily in damage so you clear grouped NPCs quickly. Add health second; Ghouls also need some hunger, while CCG ignores hunger entirely.

At what level does PvP open?

Open-world PvP generally becomes relevant around level 150 and up. Focus on Anteiku and Byrger Shot quests first.
